Hillary and Barack have a Discussion

April 26th, 2008 -- Posted in American Politics, Comics | 6 Comments »

I was looking for a quick solution to make some political comics since I am not much of an artist and came across quickcomic.com which was not only super fast but quite smooth in terms of the interface. Within a few minutes, I had my first political comic. Thanks Quick Comic Dudes.

Hoping to make this a regular feature for Saturday’s with some hopefully witty dialogue. Please leave a comment with any feedback.

Yea Sea of Ratings

I was doing my usual end of the night browse through Digg when I came across the Huffington Post article about the Mainstream Media jumping ship and throwing their collective weight behind Senator Clinton. Even my favorite channel (CNN) which I had already suspected was slightly pro-Clinton is now even more so touting her “new found success”. In honor of this being the weekend I have created a twist on a classical picture:

MAD

April 24th, 2008 -- Posted in American Politics | No Comments »

I am not sure if this is the correct definition of the acronym but I remember playing Red Alert 1 by Westwood Studios when it came out way back when and the Soviets having a tank called the “MAD” Tank. This tank would go into the enemy base and basically commit suicide while everything else around it was destroyed. Later on in life I looked up the acronym in the dictionary to discover that it defined “Mutually Assured Destruction.” I think the meaning of the acronym and the acronym itself is quite apt to describe the current state of the democratic nomination:

  1. MAD because of the way the two sides have fought in this latest primary which has clearly damaged both candidates in a way that I personally believe has harmed the image of the Democratic Party as a whole. (Despite what they say, does anyone actually believe now, that the party can recover?)
  2. Mutually Assured Destruction because that is exactly what Senator Clinton has started within the Democratic Party, a never-ending race that will finish by the second term of President McCain.

Senator Obama has made some miscalculations but his chief strategist Dave Axelrod made an excellent comment the other day stating that Hillary has won the traditional segments of the American population that Republicans usually appeal to. When you think about that statement, who would conservative democrats rather vote for? Assuredly, John McCain.

This will probably happen in Senator Clinton is the nominee because look at all the scandal that haunts Senator McCain that miraculously does not get covered by the media. I was actually contemplating the other day that the real Senator McCain could be sipping Mojitos’ in the Bahamas while a look-alike does all his campaigning because that is the amount of close attention he gets.

Senator Obama, you are the best speaker in American Politics, you need to capitalize on that fact and speak to the heart of the American people and the people who traditionally don’t vote for you. If Senator Obama was to spend some time with all the local people in the next 2 primaries, and I mean really hit the states at the grassroots level. I seriously think he could win the next two primaries.

The last thing I wanted to mention is that Senator Obama has made a lot of money which has helped him spread his message but it has not given him the decisive advantage that you would expect considering his spending. I would slow down the spending and maybe refocus some of that cash on researching an edge over Senator Clinton and throw the kitchen sink back at her. Please No more Madness.

Obama to enslave White America

April 23rd, 2008 -- Posted in American Politics | No Comments »

This video particulary goes out to some people on the right who might believe that Obama is some sort of closet racist. Beyond being incredibly funny this shows a side of the Senator that we don’t often get to see, a man who is real, down to earth and fundamentally a good person. Senator Obama may have lost Pennsylvania by 10 points but if we look back at the race for the democratic nomination so far, we can say that the races he has lost, he has done so with honor and courage. Could the same be said for Senator Clinton?

Living outside the USA

April 22nd, 2008 -- Posted in American Politics | 10 Comments »

For some people from Mass. that I know, it is hard for them to understand why I support Senator Obama. There are so many different explanations I could give but the one that hit me this morning as I woke up is the issue of race. Growing up in South Africa, I was constantly surrounded by racial, cultural and ethnic poloarization. Coming to America for the first time, I found the solution in a place called Worcester, MA. A place like many other places in America where people from different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities can come together under one flag and one country. Living outside the USA for the last year, it has made me realize that there really is no place on earth besides the USA that a person like Senator Obama can exist. I am so lucky to have friends from so many different cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. I honestly desire nothing else in my life but my point is that it is this cultural melting pot that makes America the strongest country in the world. Off to work but another great MoveOn Ad:
