The Political Debate
The political debate has intensified in recent days with both Candidates attacking each other on issues ranging from the economy to the environment. Who is right? Who is wrong? I am not sure and I don’t think anyone can make that decision unless he or she understands the ‘absolute truth’. I think I am becoming a tad bit too philosophical this early in the morning but I wanted to highlight another interesting political site I found. The site is CreateDebate.com where people can sign up and debate with the other users on the site about various issues. Each side receives a specific number of points so you can see who is winning the debate at any one point. It is a great site when comparing it to other similarly slanted sites like Helium.com which has a wider range of topics but no scoring system to see who is winning:

I’m not really one for a lot of debate, Crian, as you’ve probably noticed. I normally just present a news item and my opinion, and let others go at it in the comment thread, although there are times I do get caught up in it. I really don’t enjoy debating very much, and especially not now when many people are getting so angry on both sides.

Hey Gayle, I can totally agree with you here. I enjoy debating but have yet to master the ability to debate unemotionally. Sometimes when I look at some of the debates going on at this site, I get a little bit angry but then I realize its part of the wonderful political process. I think it’s just a great site to see the different views of regular people. Hope your weekend has started of well.

emotions are big part of debate. if people were not emotional about the issues then debates would have no purpose. emotions declare how much you care.
where emotions are not good is when you care more about the issue itself than the logic of the argument you present. when this happens a person will say anything just to win, even lie, or, as i like to say, use falsehoods.

Hey Griper, that is a very good point, emotions do lend a credibility to debates but like any double-edged sword, they can sometimes take people too far.
