McCain Supports The Troops

One of the premises I often read about from various media sources are that some Republicans will vote for Senator McCain because of his support for the Troops and his understanding of military matters. I am a big fan of the show Countdown however due to the time difference I don’t often get to watch it live on MSNBC here in Ireland so I often watch the clips the next day but here is that famous clip of McCain clashing with a Vietnam veteran:

Senator McCain takes credit for the GI Bill in this clip, the one that Senator Obama votes YES for, unlike Senator McCain. This video highlights the pandering nature of Senator McCain, not that Senator Obama is any different but as I have said in previous posts; if you add up all the pandering/flip-flops in the McCain campaign you could probably build a bridge linking Boston to Dublin. Senator Obama on the other hand would probably only make it half-way.

Well, Senator McCain has not made that many flip-flops but last night’s Countdown video made me question Senator McCain’s fitness to be the next President. Don’t get me wrong, I have talked to some fairly older people here in Ireland and in America whose minds are as sharp as when they were 20 years old but I don’t think Senator McCain is one of these older people:

In regards to “Senator McCain takes credit for the GI Bill in this clip, the one that Senator Obama votes YES for, unlike Senator McCain.” It is typical of the GOP to spend carelessly
on the military, but give short shrift to those injued in military service. Strikes me
    as peculiar.

as like you i’m not one who appreciates a politician sidesteeping a question like McCain did in that video. i consider it an insult to the questioner’s intelligence and mine as well as the rest of the people’s.

I’m with Griper on this, I don’t appreciate any politician sidestepping the issues, and I honestly believe McCain to be a patriot. I don’t know about Obama. However, I honestly don’t believe that McCain has made more flip-flops than Obama, Crian. However, I don’t suppose you will be surprised by that. :)

Off topic: I came over to let you know that my blogging partner, Old Soldier (who hasn’t been posting much lately due to being busy building his new home) came into my post Don’t Tread on me, Obama” and answered your question far better than I did. In my answer I told you I wasn’t well-schooled on the economy, so Old Soldier did a far better job explaining our take on it than I would have.

    Have a great day!

Oops… sorry. I forgot to close the link in the above comment. :(

Senator McCain is a war hero, he can say what he wants, as delusional as his outlook mat be. He is a veteran, or at least has forgotten that quick and sold out faster than the iphone.

    Amazing

Hey BB, you are quite right that it strikes me as confused to not support the troops given the increase in defense spending since President Bush came into office.

I am glad we can agree on one thing Griper, as do Gayle and I on occasion. I figured you wouldn’t agree with me Gayle but I am sure some intrepid journalist during the next few months will tabulate these flip-flops for comparison so we will just have to wait and see.

I have visited the post in question Gayle and replied to Old Solider’s post, don’t worry about the linking issue, its not a big thing.

Hey Tate, nice comparison to an Iphone buddy, do you buy one yet?
