A Truly Historic Day

Today is an amazing day, Senator Obama is the democratic nominee and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The historic nature of this day hasn’t hit me yet but I know I will be telling stories about this day to future generations about how a nation was changed with the nomination of a single man:

    Hi Crian,
I know you’re still in town and on the computer at times because you are the author of this post. It’s ironic that you’re leaving town just as I’m feeling up to picking on you and telling you “Watch it buddy. I’m watching you.” lolol.

Perhaps I’ll have to wait a couple of weeks before you’re going to really have the chance to try and convince me that you’re right and I’m wrong, but I want you to know that when ever that time comes, I’m looking forward to it.

For now, I just want to say that I keep hearing how the Democratic Party is going in the direction of socialism, but I remember you saying once to Griper that you wouldn’t want to live in a country that is socialist. Why than are you supporting the Democrats? Doesn’t it bother you how socialistic they have become?

Regarding “Doesn’t it bother you how socialistic they have become?” Not as much as it bothers me that we have young families coming to the local church for food, clothing, shelter…while some political parties reduce taxes on the most wealthy. In WWII
the tax rate on those folks was 90% because we were at war. Now it is 35%, yet we are at war. So we borrow rather than tax. When did it become ’socialist’ to pay ourselves, rather than put it off to our kids and grandkids? Those countries that have healthcare for all, full happy retirement for all and the highest standard of living..scandinavians, for example, are viewed by some as horrible examples of government run amuck.
Think about it, study it…that is simply not true.
They are ‘their brother’s keeper’, while we just mouth the words. As has been true at least for my long generation, we don’t vote for…we vote against.
(sorry for jumping on Crian’s response prior to he)
